I made this list myself, pulling some of these prompts from other lists, or just making them up.

1. Game night

2. Childhood

3. Paper crane

4. Rain

5. Candle

6. Flowers

7. Rejection

8. Moon

9. Write a story about your OTP from the last thing you read/watched/played/whatevs

10. Library

11. Wind Chimes

12. Food

13. Autumn

14. Fairy tale

15. Whisper

16. Music

17. Snow

18. Dancing

19. Butterflies

20. Color

21. Simple

22. Roleplaying

23. Write a story based on a song

24. Cooking

25. Lightning

26. Christmas

27. Writing a letter

28. Magic

29. Sleep

30. Dressing up

Rules:

Write a fanfic or an original short for each prompt. Any fandom/pairing is up for grabs, and repeating a pairing or character is okay too.

Minimum word count: 500 words

Doing them out of order is fine

If I have an in-progress fic that I feel I can finish using the prompt, I’m going to do that, but I won’t count the already written portion of said fic towards the minimum word count for that day. The goal is to get some writing done and if that’s how it happens, that’s fine with me!

I’m going to try to avoid making these into chapters for some of my longfics, but if that happens then it happens.

He is not impressed.

“Hmmm? What are you telling me?” Chase asked, only half able to pay attention to Kathy while he worked.

“The new girl, the one that just started up the farm,” Kathy repeated, enunciating each syllable to make sure Chase heard all of them. “Renee and I finally talked her into coming here tonight.”

“Why would you do something like that?” Chase asked, enunciating his own syllables.

Kathy rolled her eyes, “Because she’s new, and we want her to feel at home. You know what it’s like to be new; it can be very difficult to make new friends.”

Chase sighed, “I guess I just don’t see what this has to do with me…”

“Just make sure you’re on your best behavior,” said Kathy. “I don’t want her to get a bad impression of the people here.”

Chase crossed his arms, “Oh, and what makes you think I’d be the one to give off a bad impression?”

“Because…” Kathy said. She opened her mouth to continue, but struggled a bit before she finally came up with something. “Because you’re a snarky little jerk, that’s why! You might end up hurting her feelings if you’re not careful. She hasn’t learned to ignore you yet.”

“Yeah, sure,” said Chase. “But you’ve got bigger problems to worry about – looks like Owen’s had too much to drink again.”

“What?!” Kathy shrieked, spinning around so quickly that she almost fell over. Sure enough, there was Owen, sitting at his table in the corner, crying like a giant baby. Like a super hero, Kathy quickly darted over to rescue her boyfriend.

I don’t know what she sees in that guy, Chase thought as he went back to chopping onions. What an idiot…

The bell above the door chimed, pulling Chase out of his current train of thought. He heaved a heavy sigh as he sat down his knife and approached the counter, ready to serve the new arrivals.

“Welcome to the Brass Bar,” he said unenthusiastically. “I have no idea what today’s special is; may I take your order?”

Renee giggled, “Oh Chase, you’re so funny…”

“Yeah,” Luke agreed. “He always says the weirdest things. He’s a riot!”

Chase glanced up at his customers, noticing for the first time a new face; he knew right away that it was the new farmer Kathy had been talking about.

She wasn’t what Chase had expected. When he heard the word farmer, he automatically pictured blue denim overalls, flannel shirt, and work boots. He had pictured a bigger girl, with a build similar to that of the drunken blacksmith blubbering in the corner.

The girl in front of him, however, was about as far from that as possible. She wasn’t muscular, but curvy, and her skirt showed off her rather shapely legs. Her auburn hair was fashioned into an odd style that sort of… poofed around her head. Her large brown eyes were magnified even more by glasses.

“Hikari, this is Chase,” Renee said sweetly. “Chase, this is Hikari.”

“It’s nice to…” Chase trailed off, noticing that Hikari was staring at him, and… smiling. He felt his cheeks growing warmer the more she stared, her smile growing wider and wider until Chase thought it would engulf her entire face. “W-what?”

At last, she laughed, covering her mouth with a dainty hand, “Nice hair clips. Did Kathy lend them to you? They really bring out your eyes.”

Chase’s jaw nearly hit the floor. Was she teasing him?

Renee gasped, “Hikari!”

“Hahaha, burn!” Luke cheered, holding his hand up for a high five. Hikari jumped into the air and slapped his hand roughly.

Wonderful, Chase thought, glaring at them. A smartass. Just what we need around here.

Title: Which Came First; The Pokemon or the Egg?Fandom: PokemonRating: T for hot...

Title: Which Came First; The Pokemon or the Egg?
Fandom: Pokemon
Rating: T for hot makeouts
Pairing/Characters: Ethan/Lucas
Summary: Lucas and Ethan talk about Pokemon eggs, and then they make out.

In Goldenrod City, the sun had all but vanished in the evening sky. A calm, orange light played off of the brick buildings, and the cities inhabitants enjoyed the warm air as they walked home from work.

Just outside the large city was a small house, with a large fenced in area where several Pokemon played together. To a Johto native, some of these creatures would have appeared quite strange; they had come all the way from Sinnoh, along with Professor Rowan’s young assistant, to be part of a breeding experiment.

The assistant – a young boy by the name of Lucas – stood nearby, checking out the area’s climate on his Poketch. Ethan, his escort while he was visited the region, leaned on the fence post, and let out a loud, impatient groan every few seconds. Lucas was doing his best to ignore him.

Lucas sighed, “The temperature and humidity levels here seem to be optimal.”

“Fascinating,” Ethan said, wearing the same bored expression he’d had on since the other boy arrived. “Why are you here, again?”

“I’ve told you a dozen times,” Lucas said. “I’m here to observe Pokemon breeding patterns.”

“Yeah, duh,” said Ethan. “But isn’t there a Pokemon Daycare in Sinnoh?”

“Yes, there is,” Lucas said. “But the one here in Goldenrod has more ideal conditions for these particular Pokemon.”

“How do you mean?” Ethan asked, leaning against the fence post.

Lucas groaned, rubbing the bridge of his nose. From the moment he had arrived in Johto, Ethan had been a constant annoyance. It seemed that all he ever did was smile and ask stupid questions.

He’s just an idiot, Lucas reminded himself. You’ve got to be patient with him… How can I explain this so he’ll understand?

“It’s like this,” said Lucas. “You know how Ireland is known for its potatoes?”

Ethan nodded, “Yeah…”

“Potatoes weren’t originally from Europe,” Lucas continued. “They originated in the Americas. Ireland hadn’t even seen a potato until European explorers brought them back from The New World.”

Ethan wrinkled his nose, “What does that have to do-“

“I’m getting to that,” Lucas interrupted. Jeez, this guy was such a child. “The point is, Ireland wasn’t the potato’s original environment, yet it could thrive there.”

“So?”

Lucas had to fight off the urge to smack his forehead, “So, these Pokemon are like potatoes. They’re from Sinnoh, but research has been showing that Glameow prefer warmer climates. My theory is that they will produce more eggs here in Johto, where the average temperature is higher.”

Ethan snickered, “But we don’t even know if Pokemon lay eggs.”

His eyes narrowed, “Come again?”

“Yeah, it’s true,” Ethan said whimsically. “No one’s ever seen a Pokemon lay an egg before.”

“That’s ridiculous,” Lucas said, crossing his arms. “I’d have to be an idiot to believe something like that.”

“But it’s true,” Ethan protested, flailing his arms around. “It really is! Have you ever seen a Pokemon lay an egg? ‘cause I haven’t.”

“Well, no…” Lucas confessed. He shook his head, “This is stupid. Your grandparents run a Pokemon Daycare. I’m sure they’ve seen Pokemon lay eggs before.”

Ethan smirked, “Wanna bet?”

“Excuse me?”

“Let’s bet on it,” said Ethan. “If I’m right, you have to give me a kiss.”

“W-w-what?!” Lucas sputtered. “What’s with that all of a-“

Ethan turned around, and for a few wonderful seconds Lucas thought that he was going to leave, and he would finally be free. But he only called out to the elderly man sitting on the porch in his rocking chair.

“Hey, Grandpa!” he hollered. “Have you ever seen a Pokemon lay an egg before?”

“Have I what?” he called back.

“Seen a Pokemon lay an egg!” Ethan repeated, louder this time.

The old man scratched his chin, “Well… No, I reckon I haven’t.”

“What?!”Lucas exclaimed, his jaw dropping. Next to him, Ethan was snickering. That stupid brat; me must have planned that somehow!

“I’ve never actually seen it happen,” the elder repeated. “I always find Pokemon eggs, but I’ve never seen a Pokemon lay an egg.”

Lucas groaned; great, now he was going to have to-

“Hey, Lucas,” Ethan said, giving him a gentle jab in the side. “Hey Lucas, you know what that means~ It means you have to give me a-“

“I know!” Lucas snapped. “You don’t have to be so obnoxious about it.”

He grinned, “Well? What’cha waitin’ for?”

Lucas gulped, feeling his blush creep down from his ears to cover the rest of his face. Ethan seemed to be delighted by this, and his grin grew even wider, until Lucas wondered if his face would split in half.

“C’mon, it’s easy,” he said, pointing to his lips. “Just a quick one, right here.”

“Why does it have to be on the lips?” Lucas demanded. “You didn’t say anything about lips! Come to think of it, I didn’t agree to this in the first place!”

“Awww, c’mon,” Ethan pouted. “Just do it already!”

“Fine,” said Lucas. Still blushing furiously, he cleared his throat… and jumped back a little when Ethan leaned forward, his eyes closed and his lips puckered.

Calm down, he told himself. It’s just one kiss… Sure, you’ve never done this before, let alone with a guy… But how hard could it be, right?

Mustering up all of his confidence, Lucas closed the remaining distance between them, touching his lips gently against Ethan’s. Surprisingly, the other’s lips felt soft, warm… almost nice, but Lucas couldn’t bring himself to admit that he liked the feeling. He allowed himself to linger a little bit longer than he had planned before pulling away…

Well, he tried to pull away. As soon as he started to move, however, a cold hand was pressed against the back of his neck, keeping him in place. Lucas tried to struggle against it, but it was no use; he was stuck, and he could feel Ethan smirking, and it was almost as irritating as watching him do it. He gasped when he felt the other boy’s tongue pressing against his lips, and Ethan took this as permission to enter. Lucas tried to squirm away, but the strong arm now wrapped around his waist was making this difficult.

Damn, this guy’s strong… was the most coherent thought Lucas could come up with while his mouth was being thoroughly explored by the other boy. Ethan let out a small moan every once and a while, but Lucas refuse to emit any sort of noise that might make Ethan thing he was enjoying this… Until he began playing with his tongue; after that, all bets were off.

“Oh boys~” Lyra called from the front porch, her voice as clear as a bell. At last, Ethan released his poor captive to see what it was the girl wanted. Lucas was so dazed that he could hardly register what she was saying. “It’s time for dinner!”

“We’ll be right there!” Ethan said. When Lucas looked up at him, he was smirking. He looked so arrogant as he wiped the last traces of saliva from his mouth… Lucas wanted to smack him. “Haha, that wasn’t bad at all.”

Lucas frowned, “What do you mean it wasn’t bad?”

Ethan sighed, “Yeah, I’d give it a seven out of ten.”

Lucas was furious, “Seven? Seven?!”

He nodded, “Don’t be mad, seven is a totally respectable number. You’ll get better if we practice more.”

“Practice?!” Lucas hollered. “Why on earth would I want to practice that, especially with someone like you?”

“ ‘cause you liked it,” Ethan said, shoving his hands in his pockets.

“No, I did not!” Lucas answered reflexively, though after the words were out of his mouth he realized that he did enjoy it… Sort of. But why did it have to be with that cocky, country bumpkin? It was embarrassing!

“Riiiiiiiight,” Ethan said, not believing Lucas for a second. After a few moments, he laughed, pulling the other boy’s hat down over his eyes.

“H-hey!”

“Race ya back to the house!” Ethan called, sprinting off. He already had a huge lead by the time Lucas had pulled his hat out of the way and gathered his wits.

Ethan had only left on his journey that morning, and already his mother noticed that the house was quieter without him. Normally, her son would be up in his room, spending his evening playing video games, and hollering at the television when he couldn’t win whatever it was he was doing (all those games looked the same to Mom). In the past she would have complained about the noise, but the house felt sort of empty without it.

“I’ll just have to get used to it,” she sighed, flipping on the TV to watch the evening news.

“-terrifying moment for Professor Elm of New Bark Town,” the handsome news anchor was saying. “When a thief broke into his laboratory and stole a rare Pokemon.”

Mom gasped, “Oh dear! I hope he’s alright…”

“A couple of young trainers rushed in to help and tried to fight the offender off. Now, this brake in happened early this morning in New Bark Town; Channel Seven’s own Rachel Smith caught up with those involved.”

The screen faded to a familiar setting; Professor Elm’s lab was only a few blocks away from Mom’s home. It was terrifying to think that something like that could happen so close. New Bark Town had always been a safe place to live…

“Thank you, Jim,” the female news anchor said. “Professor Elm tells us that a young man broke into his laboratory and robbed him. Some local trainers tried to apprehend the thief, who got away; leaving behind evidence of his visit.”

The next shot was of Professor Elm himself. He looked even more nervous than usual as the reporter interviewed him.

“We were attacked by some punk kid,” he said, adjusting his glasses.

“Professor Elm says he put up a fight as the boy attacked him.”

“He choked me, he slapped me,” Elm said, looking horrified. “Told me he’d kill me if I said anything.”

The next shot was of the side of the building; one of the windows had been broken, and the area was taped off by the police.

Mom gulped, “How awful…”

“Elm says the culprit entered the building through the side window, leaving behind his finger prints” the woman explained. “Then, he stole one of the Professor’s rare Pokemon. As the attacker fled the scene he was confronted by two local trainers.”

Mom nearly feinted when Ethan appeared on the screen next. He hadn’t even ventured a mile away from home, and already he’d gotten himself caught up in a dangerous situation! Lyra was standing next to him, holding her beloved Marill in her arms. Both of them were wearing sunglasses, and Ethan had his hat turned sideways.

“Are you serious my boy?” Lyra was saying. She was trying to look tough, Mom could tell, but as always, her big poofy hat made her look incredibly silly. “You left all your evidence. I know how you look. I know what shoe size you wear.”

How would she know something like that? Mom wondered absently.

“So you can run and hide, and do whatever you want but we’re gonna find you,” Ethan said, crossing his arms over his chest. “We know you’re in N.B. my boy. Your best bet is to stay outta my eyesight.”

“Ethan and Lyra of New Bark Town fought the hostile thief,” the reporter explained. “Who fled the scene after losing the Pokemon battle.”

“Well, obviously we have a thief in New Bark Town,” said Lyra. “He’s lookin’ in yo windows, snatchin’ yo Pokémon up, try’na beat ‘em. So y’all need to hide yo Chikorita, hide yo Cyndaquil, and hide yo Totodile, ‘cause he’s stealin’ errybody out here.”

“He was ‘bout five-nine, five-ten, pasty white completion…” Ethan said, scratching is chin as he tried to recall details. “He had long red hair, it kinda stuck up in the front… Clean cut, very smooth face…”

“You left finger prints and all. You are so dumb. You are really dumb,” Lyra said, moving forward to invade the camera’s personal space. “Fo real.”

“The trainers say they’ve never seen the thief before, but send this message to those responsible,” the reporter said, looking at the two bazaar children as if she’d rather be anywhere else.

“You don’t have to come and confess that you did it!” Lyra exclaimed. “We lookin’ for you, we gonna find you. I’m lettin’ you know now!”

Ethan nodded, “Run and tell that, homeboy.”

Mom stared at the screen, hardly comprehending the next story, or the following weather report. Part of her wondered when her son had turned into such a moron, but the part of her that missed his presence in the house felt content.

Title: PuddingRating: T I guessFandom: Persona 4Pairing: Kou/Chie sort ofSummary: White day gifts...

Title: Pudding
Rating: T I guess
Fandom: Persona 4
Pairing: Kou/Chie sort of
Summary: White day gifts are complicated business okay

“Dude, why did you make me come here?” Daisuke grumbled as he followed Kou into the gym. Out of all of the events at this year’s cultural festival, the beauty pageant was the one he cared about the least. He only went to that ridiculous cross-dressing pageant to support Souji (the word “support” here having the meaning of “took embarrassing photos of”).

“Why wouldn’t we go to this event?” Kou asked. The athlete hadn’t had enough time to change out of his Hamlet costume before the start of the pageant, and had opted to wander around in those silly tights for a little bit longer instead of miss this opportunity.

“Uh… because it’s stupid?” replied Daisuke. “Who cares about a bunch of girls walking around and answering stupid questions?”

Kou rolled his eyes; he wasn’t even going to dignify that with a response. Who wouldn’t care about watching the most beautiful girls in their class parading around in swimsuits? And, best of all…

“Now, for our next contestant, Ms. Chie Satonaka of the second-year’s Class 2!” the pink-affroed announcer said, beckoning the short haired girl to come out from behind the curtain. “Come on out, Chie!”

Sure, the other girls weren’t bad to look at, but in Kou’s eyes, none of them held a candle to Chie. Normally, he didn’t have a difficult time talking to girls, but with her… it was a completely different ballgame. His heart would start beating, he would get butterflies in his stomach, he would start stuttering, and suddenly he couldn’t think of anything to say, let alone something witty or flirtatious. But man, she was beautiful.

It really sucks, Kou thought, but he couldn’t keep himself from smiling as the object of his affection made her way to the center of the stage. She’s so cute…

“Why don’t you tell us a little bit about yourself?” the MC prompted.

“U-Um, I’m kind of shy and reserved…” she said, avoiding eye contact with the audience (Kou couldn’t blame her; if he learned anything from his terrible experience with the class play, it was that public speaking was a horrifying). “And my favorite food is… pudding.”

“Pudding, huh…” Kou mumbled.

“Huh? Did you say something?” Daisuke asked.

“Um… it’s nothing,” Kou said, trying to return his attention to the pageant. It was difficult to pay attention to the other girls, however, now that he had an idea…

* * * *

Five months later, Chie Satonaka had successfully suppressed all of her memories concerning that stupid pageant. She preferred to pretend that the embarrassing incident never happened. Except for the part where she got to put makeup on Yosuke. That part was awesome.

That day was the furthest thing from her mind as she walked up the steps to the second floor. It was White Day, and the female population of Yasogami High School was more excitable than usual. Girls were rushing about, showing off their gifts. Every year, Chie came to school on this particular day with the same attitude; hopeful, but not expecting anything. It was no use getting upset over a silly holiday; most of these couples would break up in a few weeks, anyway.

Of course, that outlook always changed as soon as she saw the mound of gifts Yukiko received every year. But hey, you’ve gotta go in fighting, right?

“G’morning, Chie,” Yosuke greeted her with a wink. That stupid wink that meant something was up.

“Good morning…” Chie said, hesitating as she made her way to her seat. Souji was already at his desk, with his nose buried in one of those strange self help books he seemed to like so much.

It was only then that she noticed the small bowl on her desk. It was… cute, for lack of a better word; clear glass decorated with pink and red hearts. Whatever was inside was covered by a perfect swirl of whipped topping, and strawberries lined the edge of the bowl. There was even a fork, and a delicately folded napkin placed next to it, as if someone had mistaken her desk for a table at a fancy restaurant.

“What is this?” Chie asked, confused.

“Vanilla pudding with strawberries and whipped topping,” Souji answered, not taking his eyes off of his book for a second.

“Did you leave it here?” Chie asked.

“Nope,” said Souji. Chie had to admit, she was a little disappointed; a White Day gift from Souji would be like a dream come true…

“Looks like someone got a White Day present,” Yosuke teased, leaning back in his chair.

“W-what? No way…” Chie said, staring at the pudding with dismay.

“What else could it be?” Yosuke asked. “Come on, tell us who it’s from!”

“How should I know?” Chie snapped back, feeling her face grow redder by the second.

Yosuke rolled his eyes, “Check the card, stupid.”

“There isn’t one,” Souji said calmly.

“Huh? What do you mean there isn’t a card?” Yosuke said.

“I already checked,” the silver haired boy said. “There isn’t one.”

“What kind of idiot leaves a gift without saying who it’s from?” Yosuke asked. “Doesn’t he realize he won’t get any credit?”

“Maybe it’s a secret admirer,” said Souji.

Chie sighed. Man, this was the most (probably unintentionally) disappointing gift. But still, she was curious. Who left the pudding on her desk? And why didn’t he sign his name? For all she knew, the gift might not have been for her in the first place…

“Hey,” Souji said, tapping her on the shoulder. “Are you going to eat that?”

“You can have it,” Chie sighed, sliding the bowl over to him.

* * * *

Meanwhile, across the hall in class 2-1, Kou was having his own problem. And Daisuke was being less than sympathetic.

“Man, I can’t believe you forgot to leave the card,” he said, laughing at his friend’s misfortune. “And everyone thinks I’m the dumb one.”

“Shut up!” Kou said, wrinkling the frilly pink envelope in his hands with frustration. Damn, and he had spent hours trying to come up with something to write before deciding on, Happy White Day, enjoy the pudding! – Kou. And it was too late to sneak back in; students were already starting to show up for class.

“And you spent months learning how to make that crap!” Daisuke said, hardly able to control his laughter. “You are so stupid bro.”

“I’m glad you think his is so funny,” Kou muttered, glaring over at him. Well, so much for that idea…

Title: The EndRating: E for ~everyone~ (seriously no boners here!)Fandom: Persona...

Title: The End
Rating: E for ~everyone~ (seriously no boners here!)
Fandom: Persona 4
Pairing/Characters: No pairings, all the characters
Summary: The ending, as told in the style of The Sand Lot

Even when I moved away, Inaba always felt like home. I’d come back to visit as often as I could; summer was always the best. But nothing ever beat that first year, when we were all together.

I kept in touch with those guys over the years, and I found out that Yosuke Hanamura quit working at Junes when he went off to college, and eventually started his own motorcycle repair business. Thankfully, his since of balance has improved. He was in a band for a while, but… they weren’t very good. But don’t tell him I said that.

Yukiko Amagi was able to attend one year of university before taking over her family’s inn, when her mother became too ill to run it herself. The Amagi Inn is still a popular tourist attraction. Yukiko plans to retire early – once her oldest daughter finishes school and is ready to take her place – so she can travel.

Kou Ichijo studied abroad in the US for four years, where he got a degree in accounting and business. He eventually married his college sweetheart, but the two divorced several years later. He now manages his family’s affairs in partnership with his younger sister, and we get together once or twice a year to shoot hoops. He is still trying to work up enough courage to ask Chie Satonaka out for dinner.

Speaking of Chie, she attended the police academy and graduated with flying colors. Sometimes she complains about getting restless in Inaba, but even though she’s been offered positions and promotions in other cities, but she always turns them down. And yes, steak is still her favorite food.

Kanji Tatsumi took over his family’s textile business after he graduated high school,( something many citizens of Inaba never thought would happen). The store continues to be successful, but he made a small fortune selling adorable puppets and plushies on the internet.

Daisuke Nagase got over his fear of women, and married Ai Ebihara. They have nine kids. They bought the Okina drugstore and still own it to this day.

Naoto Shirogane became a police consultant, and just like her fictional heroes, she is a first rate detective. But even with her busy schedule, she still finds time to lend Officer Satonaka a hand in Inaba whenever she needs it. A movie based on her life was in the works, but the project was put on hold when the actress cast as Naoto, Yumi Ozawa, was hit by a drunk driver. Producers say the film will get back on track when Yumi makes a full recovery.

The Konishi family sold their failing drug store to help fund Naoki’s university education. He eventually became a psychologist, and specializes in grief counseling.

Rise Kujikawa’s career took off once she returned from her hiatus, and she began to take on more serious, complicated roles. She has been nominated for six academy awards, and won two. She will make her directing debut this fall. She comes back to Inaba at least once a year to visit her family and friends.

Shu Nakajima continued to excel in school – without cheating – even without myself, and also became one of the best pitchers Yasogami High has ever seen. After a short lived career as a field biologist, Shu eventually returned to Inaba, and teaches science at the local middle school.

My uncle was never able to solve his wife’s case. After I left Inaba, he started spending more time at home. He was eventually promoted to Chief of Police, but was forced into early retirement when he injured his back on the job. He still visits Adachi in prison.

Nanako Dojima grew into a smart, charming woman. She attended Tokyo University and is now a pediatrician.

Teddie… Well, let’s just say that Teddie never changed.

Title: Advantage Rule (Chapter 2/??)Rating: TFandom: Persona 4Pairing: Kou/Chie (aditonal side...

Title: Advantage Rule (Chapter 2/??)
Rating: T
Fandom: Persona 4
Pairing: Kou/Chie (aditonal side pairings may be added along the way)
Summary: Chie usually didn’t mind being “one of the guys”, but impersonating one was an entirely different story…

Chie considered Yosuke one of her closest friends. After Yukiko and Souji, he was probably the person she trusted most. Sure, they didn’t always get along, and he could be frustrating as hell, but after all they had been through in the TV world, their bond had become pretty strong. So when she got a text from him on Sunday morning, she wasn’t at all surprised.

Yosuke: hey u shud come 2 my hose 2nite 4 games n stuff

Later, she found herself outside the Hanamura residence, with a backpack full of video games and junk food. She knocked twice and then let herself in, knowing that the door would be unlocked. She already had her shoes removed by the time Yosuke arrived to let her in.

“You shouldn’t just waltz into someone else’s house,” he said.

She rolled her eyes, “It doesn’t count if it’s you.”

“Yo, Hanamura!” another voice – one that definitely wasn’t either of his parents – called from the other room. “Is that the pizza we ordered?”

“No, it’s just Chie!” he yelled back. When he turned back to her, his grin was a little too big for her liking; she decided right then that he was up to something. “You brought your own controller, right?”

“Yeah…” Chie said, her suspicion lingering as she followed Yosuke into the living room. There, she was surprised to see Kou Ichijo and Daisuke Nagase seated on the sofa, controllers in their hand and eyes fixated on the TV screen in front of them. Daisuke looked exactly like he always did, wearing the blue Yasogami sweats that were practically his second skin. He looked comfortable, like he was ready for a night of scarfing down pizza and chips and playing video games with the guys.

Kou, on the other hand, looked very put together, just like he did at school. His slacks appeared freshly ironed, the collar of his shirt was perfectly straight, and his socks matched – which was more than Chie could say about her own appearance.

“Dude, you pick Zelda all the time,” he was saying as they entered the living room. “Isn’t that a little gay?”

“N-no way, man!” Daisuke said. “She kicks ass! Her up-smash is fucking insane.”

“And she wears a dress,” Kou added, smashing a couple of buttons in frustration. “Ahh, damnit!”

Daisuke snickered, “Told ya.”

“Shut up.”

Chie cleared her throat, interrupting the conversation, “Uh… hey guys.”

“Chie-san!” they said, in a creepy sort of unison that made Chie take a step back unconsciously.

“Come on, sit down!” Daisuke said, scooting over to make room for her. Chie hesitated for a second, but sat down anyway, putting her backpack on the ground in front of her. There was nothing to be worried about… right? She’d known these guys for years, they weren’t creeps or something.

“Y-you, uh… want in on the next round?” Kou asked, smiling a bit too widely. He almost looked nervous… But what was there to be nervous about? Was he that worried about getting beat at Smash Bros by a girl?

“Sure,” Chie said, leaning forward to get her controller out of her bag. “Which characters are free?”

“You can be anyone you want!” Kou said.

“Except Snake,” Yosuke said, settling down into his arm chair. “I get dibs on Snake.”

“Of course…” Chie said, rolling her eyes. Not that it mattered much, she could whip his butt no matter which character she picked. Besides, Lucario was her favorite, anyway.

After a few rounds – all of which were won by Chie – the doorbell rang once again. Yosuke went off to answer it, leaving Chie alone with the other boys.

“You’re… really good at this, Chie-san,” said Kou.

“Yeah,” Daisuke agreed. “Like… good good, not just good-for-a-girl good.”

“Thanks…” Chie said, smiling nervously. Sure, compliments were nice (if you could even count what Daisuke said as a compliment), but it wasn’t something she was used to. Especially from guys…

“The pizza’s here!” Yosuke announced, returning with several large pizza boxes, which he placed on the coffee table in front of Chie. “It’s all-meat; help yourself.”

“Sweet!” Chie said, throwing open the top box. It smelled heavenly. Grinning from ear to ear, she grabbed a slice and started eating. It took her a few bites to remember that Kou and Daisuke were sitting on either side of her, and that if she didn’t want them to think she was a total slob…

But they were already staring at her, she realized; all three of them. None of them had touched the pizza yet. All eyes were on her.

“Uh…” she said, ever so eloquently. She could feel her cheeks heating up, and was vaguely aware that the cheese on her pizza was dripping off onto the floor. “Why are you looking at me like that?”

“Well, um…” Kou murmured, instantly averting his gaze.

“Daisuke has something he wants to ask you,” Yosuke said, patting him on the shoulder. “Isn’t that right, Daisuke?”

“Uh, well… Chie-san, I was wondering…” Daisuke said, looking everywhere but at her. His ears were turning bright red, and his breath quickened.

Wait, is he going to ask me out? Chie thought with a gulp. Is that why Yosuke invited me over here; he’s trying to set me up with Daisuke-kun? Ugh, what was he thinking, doing something like that without telling me?!

“Daisuke-kun, I…” Chie trailed off awkwardly. Crap, she’d never had to turn someone down like this before; Yukiko was the one who had to deal with that on a regular basis…

“Please join the soccer team!” the brunette blurted out.

“Uh… what?”

“We really need your help. The team is horrible,” he said, almost frantically. He even bowed to her; Chie wondered if it was really out of respect, or because he was too embarrassed to look her in the eye as he made his request. “And when I saw you kick that ball the other day… It was the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen!”

“Y-you saw that, huh?” Chie said, remembering exactly what Daisuke was talking about. She never got in trouble for the incident – even though she heard that the student who she hit lost a tooth – so she was hoping that no one had seen what happened.

“It was epic,” said Daisuke, looking up at her with wild admiration. “If we had someone on the team who could kick like that, we’d never lose!”

“Yeah,” Yosuke agreed. “The other team would be too terrified to go out onto the field.”

“Shut up,” she said, giving Yosuke a shove.

“So, will you do it?” Daisuke asked eagerly.

“I don’t know…” Chie said, skeptical. “I mean, isn’t it an all boy’s team?”

“It’s not like we play a lot of big games, anyway,” said Daisuke. “It’s mostly matches against schools in the area. No one’s gonna care.”

“Could I… maybe think about it?” asked Chie. Part of her wanted to do it, sure; Daisuke seemed pretty desperate. How bad could it be? But then again, she had never been very good at team sports…

“Yeah, alright. Cool,” Daisuke said, smiling at her. “We’re practicing on Tuesday after school. You should come by and play with us. Y’know, to get a feel for it.”

“Okay,” Chie agreed. That sounded reasonable enough. She could try it out, and if she didn’t like the game, she could back out. “Sure, Tuesday after school.”

“Thank you so much, Chie-san,” Daisuke said, overflowing with gratefulness.

“Alright!” Yosuke said, clapping his hands together. “Now that we’ve settled that, let’s eat!”

Title: Advantage Rule (Chapter 1/??)Rating: TFandom: Persona 4Pairing: Kou/Chie (aditonal side...

Title: Advantage Rule (Chapter 1/??)
Rating: T
Fandom: Persona 4
Pairing: Kou/Chie (aditonal side pairings may be added along the way)
Summary: Chie usually didn’t mind being “one of the guys”, but impersonating one was an entirely different story…

Kou Ichijo took a deep breath as he exited the gym, closing his eyes as he reveled in the cool September air. As much as he enjoyed basketball practice, the gym was stuffy even on the coldest winter day. The light fall breeze was a welcome presence. The strange, poisonous fog had lifted from Inaba months before, much to Kou’s relief, and so far he had been able to enjoy his final year at Yasogami High School.

Smiling, Kou made his way over to the practice field, where the soccer team was still hard at work. He spotted Daisuke right away, pointing and giving orders to some first years. The new recruits were mediocre at best, and Daisuke – who had vowed to give soccer his all this year – had been growing increasingly frustrated with his younger teammates.

As exciting as it was to watch the soccer team trip over each other, Kou quickly found something far more interesting to watch. On the other end of the field, two female students were running laps around the track. Even from this far away, Kou recognized Chie Satonaka’s short brown hair. He could only assume that the black haired girl struggling to keep up was Yukiko Amagi, Chie’s lifelong friend.

Even from this far away, she’s so cute, Kou thought, watching as Chie backtracked to where Yukiko was now resting. Maybe he should go talk to her? It looked like they were about to take a break… Yeah! He could walk over there, smile, and say, “Oh, hello Chie-san. How’s it going?” It wasn’t like they were complete strangers, after all… In fact, why should he stop at that? He could just as easily invite her out to Aiya for a bite to eat…

But she was with Yukiko-san… and Kou had made plans with Daisuke… Maybe the four of them could go together? A group date might be fun… or would that be too awkward? The last time he had tried to bring Daisuke along on a group date, that idiot had ruined it before the date had even started.

“Hey,” Daisuke said, snapping Kou out of his imaginary scenario. “Basketball’s over already?”

“Uh… yeah,” Kou said, forcing his attention away from the running girls. “I just got out. How’s soccer?”

He groaned, “These first years have no idea what they’re doing. We’re already in the second term and half of them still don’t know the rules.”

The team was never that good to begin with, Kou thought, nodding. He understood where his friend was coming from; half of the basketball team hardly knew how to dribble, let alone get the ball through the hoop.

“The new goalie isn’t that bad,” Daisuke continued. “But we’ve really hardly got enough guys to make a whole team, and-“

“Look out!” one of the players called. Everyone within earshot looked up, like a deer searching for a predator.

Everything happened so fast. Kou watched as a soccer ball came hurdling towards Chie and Yukiko. He hadn’t seen what had happened before that, but Yukiko was covering her head with her arms and ducking for cover.

Chie, on the other hand, was on the offense, charging forward. Leaping into the air, and lifting her leg higher than Kou thought was humanly possible, she deflected the soccer ball, sending it flying back towards the field. One unfortunate player didn’t move out of the way in time – perhaps he was as entranced by the scene as Kou was – and was knocked over when the ball hit him in the face.

“Fuck!” the boy yelled, clutching his mouth. “Fucking… fuck! Shit!”

“Holy crap, man,” Daisuke said, gaping. “Did you see that?”

“Yeah…” Kou said, watching as the scene continued to unfold. While the injured player continued to curse, his teammates were crowding around him… And Chie escaped into the practice building, tugging Yukiko along with her.

“That… was awesome!” Daisuke exclaimed. “How… I didn’t know she could… That was awesome!”

Kou cleared his throat, “Daisuke, you might want to check on your-“

“Oh, right!” he said, rushing over to the fallen athlete. Kou followed at a slower pace, trying to shake off the shock himself. Sure, he knew Chie practiced kung fu, but… that was insane. He suddenly felt very sorry for anyone who ever found themselves on her bad side.

“Are you alright?” Daisuke asked, watching as two other players helped up their injured comrade, who was bleeding from the mouth.

“My tooth!” he said. “I think I lost my tooth! Fuck!”

“Quick!” the boy wearing the goalie jersey said. “Find sempai’s tooth!”

“Here, I found it!”

“Dude, that’s a rock.”

“Man, who was that guy?” one of the players asked. A first year, Kou assumed, since he didn’t recognize him. He was short and stocky; not the kind of guy you’d expect to see on a sports team.

“That wasn’t a guy, numb nuts,” another said. “That was Satonaka-sempai. She’s in class 3-2. Her cup size is B, I’d recon, but it’s kind of hard to judge when she wears that baggy jacket all the time.”

“Dude, how do you know her bra size?” the goalie asked. Kou was wondering that, himself…

The boy shrugged, “It’s a gift.”

“Aww, it’s too bad she’s a girl,” the short player said, looking disappointed. “We could use a kick like that on the team, eh Nagase-sempai?”

“Huh? Oh, yeah…” Daisuke said. “Hey, do you guys mind packing up? I made plans with some friends and I don’t want to be late.”

The team looked confused, but ultimately went along with their captain’s orders. Kou was almost as surprised as they were. It had been a long time since Daisuke slacked off; normally he had to beg the other boy to leave practice on time so they could get to Aiya before the dinner rush came in. Now he was practically dragging Kou back to the locker room so he could change; at first he didn’t even want to do that, but Kou had insisted. He didn’t want his friend going into a restaurant smelling like a sweat sock.

“Hey, do you mind if I invite Yosuke to come with us?” Daisuke asked as he emerged, now clad in his high school gym uniform.

“Hanamura? Uh… sure, that’s fine with me,” Kou said. Since Souji had moved away, the two athletes had been spending more time with the Junes kid. At first, Kou didn’t think it would last; Yosuke didn’t care much for team sports, and the only thing the boys seemed to have in common was Souji. But as time went on, their conversations moved from the silver haired boy to other topics. Yosuke would never be able to replace Souji, but he was fun to have around sometimes.

The walk to the diner seemed to take forever. No matter how many times Kou asked, Daisuke refused to tell him what he was up to. They had been best friends since grade school, and Kou could always tell when the other boy was up to something. Or maybe Daisuke was just really bad at hiding the fact that something was on his mind.

I hope he isn’t upset with Chie-san, Kou thought, following Daisuke into the restaurant. He has to know she didn’t do it on purpose…

“Hey, Kou-san! Daisuke!” Yosuke said, approaching them with a smile. He was still wearing his school uniform, with his signature orange headphones dangling around his neck.

“We’re sorry this is so last minute,” Kou apologized. “I know you’re really busy with your job.”

“Nah, don’t sweat it,” Yosuke said, leading them to a booth in the corner. Kou usually preferred to sit at the bar, where he had his own chair, but he didn’t object. The waitress arrived as soon as they sat down, taking their orders swiftly before returning to the kitchen.

“So,” Yosuke said, stretching out across his half of the booth. “What was it you needed to talk to me about?”

“Well, it’s like this…” said Daisuke. Kou noted that he looked nervous, not making eye contact with the boy sitting directly across from him. “You’re friends with Chie-san, right?”

Yosuke nodded, “Yeah, we’re pretty good fri- Hey, wait a second! Do you want me to set you up? Is that what this is about?”

“No! It isn’t like that!” Daisuke blurted out, before Kou even had a chance to worry about how awkward it would be to watch his best friend date his long time crush.

“So that’s your type,” Yosuke said, smirking. “Lots of girls like you, but you never seem to go out with any of them. I was beginning to wonder about you.”

“You’ve got it all wrong!” Daisuke said, his face growing redder by the second.

“Then what is it?” Yosuke asked, his expression clearly indicating that he didn’t believe Daisuke for a second.

“It’s like this…” Daisuke sighed. “Do you think she’d be interested in joining the soccer team?”

Kou and Yosuke exchanged a confused glance. That was what Daisuke was so worked up about?

“I donno,” Yosuke said. “Are girls even allowed on the soccer team?”

“Who cares about that?” Daisuke said. “Have you seen her kick? She’s got so much power; she’s amazing!”

“Y-yeah, I know…” Yosuke grimaced. “Believe me, I know. But why are you telling me this? You should just ask her about it.”

“Yeah,” Kou agreed. “I thought you were done being cold towards girls?”

“Shut up,” he grumbled, kicking Kou under the table.

“Owww!” he wined, reaching down to rub his calf. That was going to leave a bruise for sure…

“Look, it’s just that I don’t know Chie-san very well,” Daisuke explained. “And you do, so I thought you could help me out.”

Yosuke sighed, “Chie is pretty stubborn; if she doesn’t want to do something, than I don’t- Oh, wait!”

“What?” the two athletes asked, in unison so perfect that Kou was a little creeped out. Maybe they did spend too much time together…

“Guys, just leave it to me,” said Yosuke. “I’ve got a plan.”
